In the ever changing world of online technology it can be a daunting task to say the least when it come to looking for which conversion optimization tools to use for your business. We thought we would highlight just a few of our go-to resources.
So which conversion optimization tools are best?
We work with quite a few different conversion optimization tools, not just the ones we are listing here. Some clients have tools in place (so we use those) but when additional tools are needed the following are our go to choices after testing pretty much every tool out there.
1. Split testing
There is no shortage of solutions out there when looking for a tool for performing a/b and multi-variate tests. You have tools like monetate, Adobe Test Target, Google Experiments, VWO, and the list goes on and on.
They do offer a free plan that basically gives you all the features you need to deploy a solid conversion optimization plan up to 50,000 visitors. Pound for pound and dollar for dollar we find that optimizely gives us and our clients solid results.
2. Heat/Click Maps
A vastly under utilized resource is the use of heat and click maps. Using such technology allows for you to find out how your website visitors are interacting on your site. What they are paying attention to and what they are ignoring. This gives some great insight as to possible friction points and is great information when coming up with testing hypotheses.
The tool we choose to accomplish this is Crazy Egg. Again relatively inexpensive for the impact the insights give you. When it comes to conversion optimization tools, this is one of our top choices. If you aren’t leveraging such tools in your marketing then you are missing out on a truck load of valuable information about your website visitors.
Knowing how well your paid traffic campaigns are performing is vital to the success or failure. But tracking attribution and performance can in some cases be an extremely painful task. The tool we leverage in this case is Improvely. This tool allows to tracking campaign performance down to EPC and average customer value. It can be a little more difficult to setup correctly but is well worth it when you can see your campaign’s performance at quick glance in their easy to read dashboard.
4. User Experience Testing
Want to know how easy your site and checkout process is to use? Try using a resource like User Testing. Quickly and effectively find major friction points in your on-site experience by having a third party test it out. Just 15-20 users through a service such as this can give some extremely valuable insights into what your user experience is like on your site.
5. Competitive analysis
Sometimes getting a look at what your competitors are doing in their marketing is a good thing. Figuring out what ads they are running and what landing pages they are sending their traffic to can be great intel that can give you some much needed leverage in your own efforts when it comes to conversion rate optimization.
We do use several tools to accomplish this depending on the goal of the client campaign but our go-to tool here is SpyFu. You can use other tools such as compete, ispionage, adbeat and more. But for some quick analysis on keyword rankings, ads performance, advertising spend, and landing pages being advertised, SpyFu gives some great information.
There you have it, a short list of our trusted conversion optimization tools after testing far too many to count. Do your own research to find the solution is best for you but don’t count out the resources listed here.
